Smoke On The River - Washington, NC

Though it does not have the same level of popularity as the Summer Festival, this weekend's "Smoke on the River" Festival in Washington, NC on the famous Washington "river walk" is quite an event.

It was a beautiful fall day, even though quite windy.

Here are some pictures from this years festival.

Scuppernong River Festival
Has A Beautiful Day

The Fifteenth Annual Scuppernong River Festival was held yesterday, and it was a magnificent event. It started in the morning with a parade from the school down to the river.

This year Columbia was blessed with an absolutely magnificent fall day.

McClees Restaurant In Columbia North Carolina

While we were waiting for the event to get started we walked down Main Street and found a great place to eat breakfast. It is called McClees Restaurant. It is an amazing little place that I would never have expected to find in a small town like Columbia. The place was packed and not just because of the parade. The food was great and the people were extraordinarily nice. (We went back after the parade and the all you can eat Soup and Salad bar for lunch was equally impressive. Two visits and two great meals is not bad.)

After breakfast we walked down to the school to see the parade forming up. After visiting with people in the parade, we walked back to near the county courthouse to watch the parade and take photos of it.

The following are some of the highlights of the parade.
