Scuppernong River Festival
Has A Beautiful Day

The Fifteenth Annual Scuppernong River Festival was held yesterday, and it was a magnificent event. It started in the morning with a parade from the school down to the river.

This year Columbia was blessed with an absolutely magnificent fall day.

McClees Restaurant In Columbia North Carolina

While we were waiting for the event to get started we walked down Main Street and found a great place to eat breakfast. It is called McClees Restaurant. It is an amazing little place that I would never have expected to find in a small town like Columbia. The place was packed and not just because of the parade. The food was great and the people were extraordinarily nice. (We went back after the parade and the all you can eat Soup and Salad bar for lunch was equally impressive. Two visits and two great meals is not bad.)

Kim, Claudia And Toni Were Swamped And Yet Kept Grinning Through It All

After breakfast we walked down to the school to see the parade forming up. After visiting with people in the parade, we walked back to near the county courthouse to watch the parade and take photos of it.

The following are some of the highlights of the parade.

The Parade Was Led By The United States And North Carolina Flags

The Uncle Sam Figure Strode Tall

Veterans Groups Rode In Honor

High School ROTC Marchring Plattoon

The First Of A Long Line Of Fire Engines From Local Fire Brigages

Morotcycles Composed A Huge Contingent In The Parade

The National Park Service Advertised Red Wolves

The First Of Several Bands

Every Band Had Majorettes

The Cub Scouts Marched Proudly

Columbia Is Farming Country

There Is Always A Corvette In Every Parade

Drummers Kept The Beat

The Red Hat Ladies Were Having A Blast

After The Parade The Crowd Flooded Main Street

Ron Toppin, Candidate For North Carolina Senate District #1 Was One Of Several Poplticians Who Were Out Talking With Voters

It was a GREAT event. Don't miss it next year.
