Windsor High School -Together Again

The Windsor High School Lions were roaring again on Sept 29. For five wonderful hours our school was alive in the memories of 300+ teenagers-at-heart. There were hugs, laughs, tears of happiness, and also tears of sadness for those we were missing.
Although our hair is thinning and gray (if we allow it ),wrinkles have crept across our once smooth faces, our 24 inch waistlines have long gone, and our steps may not be as lively, our aches and pains were forgotten as we looked back to those cherished days and treasured friendships, and those smiles we once knew were still there
Old athletes were bragging about exploits on the football field, baseball diamond, or basketball court. The 1930 football team still holds the NC High School record for most points scored in a game and widest winning margin, 142 -0, against Creswell, and the 1948-1952 girls' basketball teams won five County championships in a row.
One student was glad to see a fellow first grader who had hit him in the head with her metal lunch box on the first day of school when he stole a kiss behind the "cloak room" curtain. She said she wouldn't do it now.
After the cheerleaders led everyone in singing the fight song and Alma Mater, Rev. Carroll Tarkington of the class of 1947 gave the benediction and a prayer of thanks for the years we shared at dear old Windsor High and a joyful reunion with the friends of our childhood, many of whom we thought we would never see again. It had been a very special night for us all!
Check out the photos and remember the memories!
