Communicating In Our Modern World

A modern phenomenon is the amount of communication created and corrected by clerical workers who require great accuracy in their work, while still working very fast with often quite tedious information. Martin Community College has responded to this need by offering a course that quickly helps.

America has always been a nation where people use every opportunity to gain knowledge. Abe Lincoln is famous for having learned while studying by candlelight. What is equally true is that he kept up learning his entire life. This desire for knowledge continues today. Like Abe we study things that help in our every day lives. Nothing is more important to us than when we are communicating knowledge to others.

Proof Reading
The Division of Continuing Education will offer a Proof Reading class on Tuesday & Thursday nights from 6:00 until 9:00 beginning March 7th. This six-week class is designed to develop the communication knowledge of clerical workers by enabling them through instruction and practice to recognize proofreading errors in the following areas:

keyboarding, abbreviation, word division, numbers, format, grammar, confusing word use, punctuation, capitalization and context.
The class will be held in building 1 room 8 .

Sandra Jones is the instructor for the class. The registration fee for this class is $60. Senior citizens 65 years of age or older do not have to pay registration fee. For more information or to pre-register for the class, call 792-1521 ext. 248.

Martin Community College is a great community asset in our desire for lifelong learning. Give them a call for this or other ongoing learning needs.
